2008: Grasmere, Church of England Primary School
A competition entry to provide a dramatic and iconic building placing this village school at the heart of the community and at the forefront of educational thinking. It offers a highly flexible and adaptable facility with excellent environmental performance and a very close relationship with the natural world. The centerpiece of the school is a Learning Innovation Centre which is a flexible space which may be used for community events, for school plays and assemblies, as a resource and IT centre. Three classrooms may be fully opened to join this space or opened up to an external shaded teaching area. Materials include local stone, timber and a sedum turf roof. Next Project Previous Project |
