The brief for this competition scheme was to create a development of 17 houses and flats, to minimum Level 5 of the Code for Sustainable Homes. We explored the concept of ‘Co-housing’ ie a private development but with shared ownership of common facilities including a club house with dining facilities.
Designed in a clearly contemporary style but with a village character, the scheme successfully creates a 'sense of place' enhanced by the club house at its hub.  A highly sustainable development, the scheme includes a bio-mass boiler, green roofs, water butts, timber windows, permeable paving, etc.  Extensive landscaping contributes to the overall 'green' feel of the scheme.
