INTEGER uses the best ideas, technologies and processes to deliver better design, value and performance in the built environment. INTEGER puts ideas, people and resources together in an integrated way – joining up thinking, organisations and budgets. INTEGER turns ideas into action through research programmes and development projects. The INTEGER approach to sustainable communities integrates research, design, and technology with construction innovation, education, and community participation. INTEGER works closely with diverse stakeholder groups to tailor solutions to the needs of local communities. Over the years INTEGER have developed a unique holistic process to overcome barriers to innovation, demonstrating what can be achieved through leadership, communications, and genuine partnership. To create sustainable new communities, and to regenerate existing communities successfully, INTEGER envisages seeding the city with centres of excellence that provide focal points for development, and dynamically interconnecting these nodes using environmental, social and technological networks. Each community solution will have its own specific identity and character driven by local social, environmental and economic opportunities. The creation of Sustainable Communities requires the participation of many stakeholders including national, regional and local government, developers, contractors, suppliers, social housing providers, community groups, educational institutions and the voluntary sector. INTEGER has unique experience in creating and leading multi-stakeholder research programmes and action projects, providing the opportunity and support to turn ideas and aspirations into reality. Over the past seven years, INTEGER’s action research network has involved more than one hundred partners, while a typical INTEGER action project involves around 150 organisations. Since 1996 INTEGER has been devising and delivering solutions for every aspect of Sustainable Communities. These include sustainable innovative design, technology and construction with the INTEGER Millennium House; urban design with the Greenwich Millennium Village; community development with the INTEGER pilot projects; research, technology and sustainable regeneration with the INTEGER Westminster Towers Programme; education and training through the INTEGER Education Programme and the Classroom of the Future; Innovation Centres and international change programmes with the INTEGER Hong Kong Pavilion and work in mainland China. |
